Congenital rubella prevention in Singapore: a success story

چکیده

The immunisation programme for rubella in Singapore started in 1976 with mass immunisation of female primary school leavers (> 11 years)1. This was extended to include male primary school leavers and national servicemen in 1982. In 1990, the trivalent MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine was introduced to children at 1 year of age. The monovalent rubella vaccine given to primary school leavers was replaced by the second dose of MMR vaccine in 1998 (Fig 1).
